Cedar River Rascals 4-H Bylaws

1. The Cedar River Rascals will not discriminate nor turn away any prospective members, as there is no limit to how many members in the Cedar River Rascals club. There must be one adult to every 6-10 members in the club.

2. Prospective members may enroll in the Cedar River Rascals at their first meeting. New members must complete all enrollment forms and be added to the roster. A new copy of the roster will be sent to all members of the Cedar River Rascals when new member has officially joined.

3. A reminder of all meetings will be sent out two days in advance to the meeting and in the event of a cancellation all members will be promptly notified. Any member unable to attend the meeting must notify an officers or leader prior to the meeting. A member must attend a minimum of five meetings a year to stay an active member within the Cedar River Rascals. Exceptions must be discussed with and cleared by a leader.

4. Profanity and/or conduct not befitting of a 4-H member will result in a conference between the President, Leader and member. Both youth and adults must follow official 4-H dress code, non – compliance with this dress code will result in the violator being requested to leave the event. Possession or use of alcohol, drugs, tobacco, or any controlled substance (other than prescriptions) is strictly prohibited during 4-H related activities. A member may be asked to leave the meeting if he/she is being inattentive or disruptive. Refusing to abide by 4-H and club bylaws will lead to suspension until further notice.

5. Responsibility of all 4-H members while on field trips and 4-H activities are to be assumed by the 4-H leader or substitute on his/her absence. Therefore, non-members will not accompany 4-H members on organized functions unless the leader has approved it. If approved, non-members will be hosted as guests and a request of insurance from parents can be required. All guests must abide by 4-H and club bylaws.

6. One community service and one money making event must be attended in order to participate in fairs. Other financial arrangements can be made if a member is unable to attend those events.

7. Record books shall be checked and returned at a meeting designed for that purpose. This is to assure the 4-H leader that each 4-H member is working at this his/her project consistently and should not be allowed to qualify for these activities otherwise.

8. Each term of office in the Cedar River Rascals will last one year. A member has the right to decline an office if he/she chooses. A member may nominate him/herself for any office he/she wishes. When member is elected and/or appointed to an officer or head of committee, member must uphold all position duties.

9. To qualify to participate in King County Fair, a member must complete the following:
  •  An up to date record book
  • A public presentation
  • Participate in at least one cat show
  • Participate in one judging competition if available

    Exceptions must be discussed with and cleared by a leader.
